Coming into this week, I was thrilled to get a Lamar plotline back in KUWTK. Lamar was not only such a huge part of Khloe and the rest of the family’s lives, but he was a huge part of the show for a long time. In this episode, we see Khloe react in real time to Lamar’s press tour surrounding his book Darkness to Light: A Memoir, Kim visit the White House again to announce a partnership with #cut50 and Lyft, and Scott attempt to get his dog Hersh into the elite award-winning dog circuit (some of these storylines are more serious than others). Let’s get into the details in this week’s episode awards:

Most Ridiculous / Richest Moment of the Week

Scott decides after watching a dog show that his dog Hersh is just as qualified to be a contestant as the dogs on screen. He decides to hire a professional dog trainer to see if Hersh really did have what it takes to be an elite show dog. After running around and examining the dog, the trainer tells Scott (kind of apprehensively) that she believes Hersh could potentially be a show dog. Scott gets extremely excited and submits pictures of Hersh to the Westminster dog association. They tell Scott Hersh would have almost no chance in an actual competition because she has two different eye colors. Scott is obviously devastated because this has been his dream for a whole week now. He decides he will not take no for an answer and organizes his own dog show starring himself and Hersh, Khloe and Khloe’s assistant’s Golden Retriever (so cute) Charlie, and North and Sushi. Of course, Scott and Hersh win after they all run in a circle once. Scott holds up Hersh and his First Place Ribbon. This was prime rich people stuff – assuming your dog can be a show dog just because it’s cute, hiring a trainer that is too scared to tell you the truth, getting denied, and then creating your own dog show orchestrated for you to win. It was genuinely hilarious though and somehow made me love Scott even more.

Funniest Kanye Moment  of the Week

Kanye wasn’t even in this episode but he still had the funniest moment. Kim and Khloe are hanging out and Kim tells Khloe how when she wasn’t looking, Chicago drew all over the wall on Kanye’s side of the room. Khloe remarks how it’s lucky Kanye wasn’t there, implying Kanye would’ve been mad. Kim says the opposite and that it was actually good he wasn’t there because Kanye would’ve loved it. Kim says “Kanye would’ve loved it and thought it was art” which is just so funny to me. I love when Kim acknowledges Kanye’s idiosyncrasies and kind of pokes fun (in an extremely loving way) at his creative bug.

LOL and she was right!

Most Mature & Full Circle Moment

A huge storyline of this episode was Lamar’s book coming out, how Khloe was going to react to both the book and his press tour, and whether or not Khloe planned on talking to Lamar again. Initially, we’re introduced to the plotline through Kylie asking Khloe when the last time she spoke to Lamar was; Khloe tells her that they haven’t spoken since the incident (referring to the aftermath of Lamar’s drug overdose). She later explains that after the overdose, she had no issues letting him go since he was still in a place where he didn’t want to (or wasn’t ready) to take care of himself and she didn’t want any feelings to get in the way of personal growth for the both of them. We move on to seeing Khloe and Malika in Kim’s gym watching Lamar during his press tour for his book speak about how much he loved being on KUWTK and how disappointed he is in himself for treating his queen (Khloe) so poorly. He clearly knows he owes both Khloe and the entire Kardashian family an apology.

It was honestly amazing to see Khloe react to this in real time and the way she was just watching it with her best friend felt so real. Malika asks Khloe if she’s going to read the book and Khloe says she might but she pretty much already knows what happens. She’s just happy that he’s telling the truth and she feels really validated in her relationship and feelings. We’ve seen Khloe go through so much in her relationships and the way she reacted to her hardships in each of these relationships – this was just so mature and while it must’ve been confusing, it was also likely cathartic.

Most Immature & Annoying Moment of the Week

Lamar’s book comes out and in telling the infamous SoulCycle drama, officially outs Kris as being the one who told him Khloe’s whereabouts. For those of you who don’t remember, Khloe and Lamar were in a really bad place, mostly because Lamar himself was in a very dangerous place due to all the drugs. Khloe pointedly is at a place where she is not telling Lamar her location and goes to a SoulCycle class. Lamar ends up showing up and causing a huge scene – the paparazzi arrived and it essentially was the last straw in their relationship, breaking them up for good afterwards. The drama was in part that there was no way for Lamar to have known where she was without help from someone in the family and everyone knew that the person who told him was Kris. Kris denied it vehemently but everyone knew there was no other way he could’ve known and in his 2019 memoir, Lamar confirms that it was Kris. Kris finds out about this and is immediately terrified that the news of this is going to expose old wounds and Khloe is going to be mad at her all over again so Kris decides to avoid Khloe.

Because Kris avoiding Khloe is a totally rational and mature move….

Scott, Kris and MJ go shopping as Scott decides he wants to make his house more of a home and who better to help him decorate than Kris. It’s just so cute that Scott turns to Kris and MJ for things like these because they truly are like his mother and grandmother. Anyways, while they’re shopping Kris’ phone is ringing incessantly – loudly I would add, which is the most annoying thing to do in 2019; who ever has their phone on loud?? Scott encourages her to answer the phone but Kris says it’s just Khloe and she’s ignoring her. Sidenote: Kris’ phone says “Khloe NEW” which makes me wonder how often they have to change their phone numbers. Scott talks with Khloe about Kris avoiding her and Khloe says that 1. She knows it was Kris who told Lamar about her location because there is no other way Lamar would’ve known but that 2. It doesn’t matter to her any more because it happened years ago and that she’s more annoyed now at how Kris is reacting and ignoring her.

Best Khloe & Scott Scheme

Khloe & Scott scheming to expose Kris is one of my favorite recurring bits in the show (cc: Art Vandalay and Todd Crane). In this episode, Kris is avoiding Khloe because Kris is scared Khloe is going to yell at her over the SoulCycle drama. Scott and Khloe decided Kris is being ridiculous and that they’re going to expose Kris. They decide that Scott is going to pretend to be sick so Kris will come over to take care of him and when she does, Khloe will come as well and confront Kris. Of course, Scott is an expert fake-sick liar and Kris comes running over to help him; she brings him soup and a cold compress to make him feel better. This is actually very cute of her – she explains how she cancelled half her day to take care of Scott. I just love moments when we see the family treat Scott as one of their own, especially since his parents are no longer alive. Khloe arrives and asks Kris why she’s avoiding her. In the confessional, Khloe says “we’re in the confessional if there’s anything you want to confess to” to which Kris says no. Khloe laughs and says “really, going to deny till you die?” and Kris says “yup!” They’re able to move on but Kris’ dedication to lying when everyone knows she’s lying is honestly admirable at this point. Scott forever <3.

DENY TILL YOU DIE KRIS

Smartest & Most Enlightened Moment

In light of Lamar’s new book, apologizing to Khloe and potentially meeting up with her was also apparently on Lamar’s agenda. Throughout the whole episode, we see Khloe torn on whether or not she wants to actually meet up with Lamar to talk. Initially, she seems for it, telling Kim that it might be nice to catch up with him because of course she misses him. But she misses him in a he’s always going to be a part of her story way, not in a get back together way and she doesn’t want to lead him on in any way. Kim agrees that it might be nice to catch up with him and even offers to accompany her. The show gives us a short montage of Khloe and Lamar and we’re reminded of how truly in love with each other they were – we haven’t seen Khloe act like this with anyone else and truly feels like another Khloe since she has changed so much. It was also sad to see the Khloe-Lamar-Rob dynamic – Lamar meant the world to Khloe but he also meant the world to Rob and while we don’t get to see Rob react to Lamar’s book, it must’ve felt good for him as well as he was equally as heartbroken over all the horrible Lamar-fueled drama and danger. Khloe finds out that Lamar has a girlfriend and is extremely relieved. She explains that the knowledge of the girlfriend makes her decision for her; she has no intention of being disrespectful to their relationship and doesn’t feel it would be the right decision to meet up with Lamar in light of this news.

This was so smart of Khloe for not only her own mental health but also for the haters who would’ve loved to paint Khloe in a negative light for meeting up with Lamar after all he put her through and after he now has a new girlfriend. I think we know Lamar and Khloe will always mean the world to each other, but they just aren’t meant to be close in that way anymore or probably ever again.

Bonus: Kim Being a Badass at the White House

Kim’s storyline this episode revolves around her going to the White House with an organization she’s been working with #cut50, whose mission it is to cut incarceration by 50%. She’s there to announce a partnership with Lyft where they will be offering gift cards to ex-cons to help them get rides to interviews and jobs. Her dedication to better the world through criminal justice and her pursuit of being a lawyer is continuously admirable (no matter who she may have to work with to achieve her goals for the greater good).
